• What is a useful art pipelin?

As I think about creating tiles with dithered artworks with color cycle animations, there are few tools I can think of. Obviously a host PC with tools is the current workflow. What are folks using? Gimp, aesprite, Tiled? Cheers!

Not a direct answer to your question, but so far for simple ansi/petscii artwork I have been working with the following tools; some of which can do what you were asking about:
    - PabloDraw
    - Moebius
    - Ice
    - DuraDraw
    - PetMate

Oh nice, I haven't heard of these. I have been using CharPad C64 for my C64 project. I feel like I need a few more features. Tile animations is one of them. I'm kind of at a point where I really need a level editor so I can start adding other kinds of artifacts like triggers, spawn points, and entities. I could spend years and years on making such an editor, so mostly everything is just typed in.
